Reported improvement

Skeptical at first, I thought I’d prefer to avoid knee replacement at any cost, so went for PRP and stem cell therapy for bone on bone knee and ankle.

Staff and scheduling

This was a very good experience. I was told that I needed two knee replacements and didn't want to do that. The option to proceed with this group was a godsend. Each appointment was on time, no waiting.

Cost and insurance

Over $10k later and my left knee is the same and my right knee is worse. I, personally, would like my money back.

Ask before you book

A clinic that answers these clearly is a different proposition from one that deflects. Take the list with you.

  1. 1Which specific product do you use, and is it my own tissue or a purchased donor product?
  2. 2Is it being used as a 361 HCT/P, or under an FDA investigational new drug application?
  3. 3Who performs the injection: the physician of record, or a PA or nurse practitioner?
  4. 4What is the total cost, and what happens if a second treatment is needed?
  5. 5What outcome data do you keep on your own patients for my specific condition?
  6. 6How many of these have you done for this indication, and what does a poor result look like?

What it is likely to cost

Buffalo Arthritis & Joint Pain Center has not published pricing, which is true of almost every clinic in this category. Insurance almost never covers the injection itself, though the consultation, imaging and any conventional treatment in the same visit often are covered.

Ask for the total in writing, including whether a second injection is billed separately, and ask for the CPT codes so you can check coverage yourself before you commit.
