How we verify clinics and code reviews
Every method on this page is one you could repeat. Where a number comes from a sample rather than a census, the page carrying it says so.
The three verification states
We confirmed a licensed physician of record and an active state license.
Address, phone and services are current. Credentials have not been reviewed.
The entry exists because the clinic does. We have not verified anything about it.
A single verified tick is close to meaningless, because it never says what was checked. These three do. A clinic cannot buy a state, and claiming a listing does not grant one.
How review synthesis is calculated
We hold the text of a sample of each clinic's public Google reviews, not all of them. Each review is matched against a fixed set of themes (whether the doctor explained things, whether an outcome is described, staff and scheduling, cost and insurance, the facility, avoided surgery, and concerns raised), plus a list of body areas and a list of named treatments.
Every count on a clinic page is a count within that sample, and the sample size is printed beside it. We never project a sample onto a clinic's full review total. “184 of 322 reviewers mentioned X” would be a fabricated statistic if it came from reading eight reviews, so we do not write sentences like that.
The matching is keyword-based and imperfect. It will occasionally miss a paraphrase and occasionally catch a false positive. It is a reading aid for a page of reviews, not a measurement.
How we quote reviews
Excerpts are short, trimmed at a sentence boundary, attributed to the reviewer by name and date, and linked to the original on Google. We never present a review as our own content, and ratings and review counts stay attributed to Google throughout.
Which pages we submit to search
Every page on this site is built and internally linked. Not every page is submitted to search. A city page enters the sitemap once it holds at least 3 clinics; a city-and-treatment page once at least 3 clinics there offer that treatment; a clinic page once its record carries enough to be useful rather than a copy of a Google Maps listing.
Below those thresholds a page carries a noindex directive and stays out of the sitemap, and it promotes itself automatically once it clears them. We do this because a directory that publishes hundreds of one-listing pages is producing scaled low-value content, and search engines now penalise that at the level of the whole site rather than the individual page.
How distance is calculated
Great-circle distance between the coordinates on a clinic record and your search origin. A ZIP search resolves to that ZIP's centroid, so distances are accurate to a few miles rather than door to door. If you let your browser share your location, the origin is exact and the coordinates are used for that one search and not stored.
What we do not know
Our coverage is incomplete. A city page shows the clinics we hold records for, not every clinic in that city, and a clinic's treatment list comes from public sources that may be out of date.
